Direction To Use

  • Patient Assessment: Begin by assessing the patient's oral condition and identifying the tooth or teeth that require temporary restoration.
  • Tooth Preparation: Prepare the tooth or teeth by cleaning and removing any decay or damaged structure. Ensure proper isolation with a rubber dam or other suitable methods.
  • Select Cartridge and Dispensing Gun: Choose the appropriate 3M ESPE Protemp 4 material cartridge based on the specific clinical requirements. Load the cartridge into a compatible dispensing gun.
  • Dispensing: Dispense the material onto the prepared tooth or into the impression if fabricating a temporary bridge.
  • Shaping and Sculpting: Use suitable instruments to shape and sculpt the Protemp 4 material, creating the desired form for the temporary crown or bridge. Pay attention to anatomical contours and occlusal surfaces.
  • Contouring for Bridges: If creating a temporary bridge, ensure proper shaping of the material to mimic the natural arch and alignment of adjacent teeth. Use an impression if needed for accuracy.
  • Curing: Cure the Protemp 4 material using a light-curing unit for the recommended duration.
  • Finishing and Polishing: Once cured, finish and polish the temporary restoration to achieve a smooth and aesthetically pleasing surface. Adjust occlusion if necessary.
  • Evaluate Fit and Occlusion: Evaluate the fit and occlusion of the temporary crown or bridge. Make any adjustments for optimal comfort and function.
  • Patient Instructions: Provide the patient with care instructions, including proper oral hygiene practices and precautions to ensure the longevity of the temporary restoration.
  • Record and Document: Record the details of the temporary restoration in the patient's records, including materials used, tooth preparation, and any specific instructions given.
  • Follow-Up: Schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor the temporary restoration and plan for the permanent restoration.
